We want to be certain
that you know how we ensure your safety and protect your health in our
office. Many of the surfaces in each treatment are covered in
plastic. These are surfaces that do not get put into our sterilizer.
After each patient leaves the treatment room, all plastic coverings
are removed and replaced. Our sterilized instruments are contained in closed bags after the sterilization process is performed. We open only the sterile bags of the instruments we plan to use. Our sterilization process is the of the highest possible caliber. We maintain our own dental unit water supply and sterilization equipment. These units are tested at independent, qualified labs. We are serious about our responsibility for your safety and health. Feel free to ask questions. ANXIETY CONTROL If you are anxious or fearful about coming to the dentist, you are not alone; an estimated 50 million Americans are in that state of mind. We invite you to be open about your apprehensions. You may be pleasantly surprised by the ways we can help. These include relaxing medication, "laughing gas", audio-visual tapes, and CD headphones. For intelligent diagnosis of our oral health it is necessary to have x-rays of your teeth and supporting bone. We cannot diagnose what we cannot see! Our office is 100% digital, including digital x rays which are faster and safer than conventional x rays. Digital x rays reduce radiation exposure by nearly 90% versus conventional x rays. Although
modern x-ray equipment and techniques are safe, we always try to minimize
your exposure. You can help yourself by making sure that we
receive x-rays from your previous dental office. FIBER-OPTIC ILLUMINATION In addition, to traditional x-rays, each of our operatories are equipped with fiber-optic lights which serve to illuminate teeth to reveal cavities. Fiber optic lights can reduce the need for x-rays in areas unlikely to have cavities, thus reducing radiation exposure and costs to the patient. DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHIC DOCUMENTATION Each of our operatories
are also equipped with intra-oral cameras. These miniature digital
cameras are held with a pen-like grasp and can meticulously capture
intra-oral detail such as cavities, tooth erosion and fractures, and
soft tissue abnormalities. Highly magnified images are projected on
a computer screen in order to document and visualize a particular
condition. This diagnostic tool is critical for patient communication
and helps when monitoring areas of concern over a period time. |
